Shekyra DeCree, PhD, LPCC-S
Dr. Shekyra DeCree, LPCC-S, is a licensed professional clinical counselor dedicated to providing hope, education, and empowerment to everyone she encounters. While her undergraduate degree is in broadcast journalism from The Ohio State University, she discovered her passion for mental health counseling while pursuing a broadcasting career in Central Ohio’s television and radio news arena. Shekyra received her master’s degree in community counseling from the University of Dayton and a Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision from Ohio University. She has worked as a clinical therapist for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's Talbot Hall Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, conducts mental health assessments for the geriatric population for the Ohio Department of Mental Health, and has provided support to individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan. In addition, she has served as a mental health counselor in K-12 public and private school settings.
Queenspace is a beautiful dream that has come to fruition for Dr. DeCree, by having the phenomenal opportunity to provide culturally inspired mental health care and wellness support to BIPOC women and girls. Her clinical areas of expertise are treating depression and anxiety disorders, women’s issues, LGBTQ issues, teen/adolescent counseling, and trauma-related issues.
